女兒的新洋裝+醜褲子變休閒短裙
疫情期間躲在家裡拼拼湊湊…
今年的情人節，我跟老公要了一台裁縫機。
其實之前就有一台，但搬家時，因為我妹的專業需要用到裁縫機，我就把舊的給她了。
收到禮物後，因為忙，一直沒有時間打開。
結果最近疫情在美國惡化、醫療物資缺乏，
我終於把機器拆封，給我們附近的醫護人員和朋友做起了布口罩。
做完布口罩後，覺得意猶未盡，
又開始把舊衣服翻出來修修改改… (￣▽￣)

I asked for a sewing machine from my husband for this Valentines.
I’ve always enjoyed sewing. Although my sewing skill is no where near perfect, I just love how it makes me feel calm when I do it.
After I got the sewing machine, I was too busy to open the box of it for awhile.
But with the recent worsen virus situation, a friend of mine asked me if I could make some masks for the local healthcare workers.
I didn’t expect my sewing machine would come in handy.
Ah ha, it looks like I asked for the right, and useful, gift!
Since I finally got the machine out, it just seemed a bit shame to put it away again.
Therefore, after I was done with making the masks, I decided to dig out some old clothes and alter them.
Since my daughter is bazillion times cuter than I am, I’m actually going to talk about the dress I made for her first and show her photos. 😀

給女兒用舊裙子做新洋裝
這件裙子是之前我從教會裡的姐妹那裡，連同很多她不用的布料，一起拿回來的。
然後它就一直被我收在箱子裡，我都這個年紀穿這種花色也怪土氣的。哈哈哈！
其實讓我想到台灣阿嬤們的防曬手套，套手臂的那種。 @▽@
這種鮮豔的花色，我實在駕馭不了呀～～～～～～ o(‧””‧)o
後來想到“但我家這隻兩歲的小布寶可以駕馭呀！”
我找了一件她的無袖小洋裝，放在這件裙子上面，沿這外型用筆描邊。
沿著描好的線，往外延伸1公分，剪下來。
我本來就是把裙子像上圖這樣放置，所以一次剪下來，就有洋裝的正面後背面了。
接下來就是把除了袖口和領口的地方縫起來、把布的邊緣車線（才不會變鬚鬚地一直掉線）。
對了！在此聲明：這不是裁縫教學！！！

I found this old skirt sitting at the bottom of my box in the storage room.
To be honest, I was not very found of the color and floral pattern of this skirt. I got it from a sister in the Church, along with a bunch of fabric that she doesn’t need anymore.
I just could not see myself wearing this much of color at my age…
Then I realized that I might be too old for it, but it’s just perfect for my 2-year-old daughter!!! 😀
I used one of my daughter sleeveless dress as a pattern, place it directly on the skirt, and just traced around it.
Just to make it clear…
This is not a sewing tutorial!

就我這點菜鳥功夫…你是沒有辦法學到什麼的。
寫這篇文章的目的就是喜歡紀錄我自己的學習過程，
和曬我女兒的可愛照片。哈哈哈～
接下來的縫紉過程就是一團亂呀…
老實說我也不記得，我最後是怎麼做出來一件還算像樣的衣服？？？
我還決定給洋裝加像荷葉波浪的小袖子，真是瘋了我…
仔細一看，真的是錯誤百出… (=‵′=)
但縫紉過程還是很快樂的說！
完成的時候還是有一絲自豪的感覺呢 哈哈！(^_^)
所以我就不詳細說我到底犯了哪些蠢錯誤了，
我們直接還欣賞布寶小模特的可愛樣子吧！

I still have much to learn and the sewing process was a mess!
But I enjoy recording my learning process and sharing adorable photos of daughter, so that’s why I’m writing this blog post. HEEH.
It was a total DISASTER! But I had so much fun doing it. Hahaha. I even decided to add small sleeves for the dress. (I must have been crazy…)
I made so many mistakes while making this dress that I can’t remember how it eventually became the final look. If you look close enough, it is just full of flaws.
What matter the most is how adorable my little angel looked wearing the dress I made for her.
She is becoming better and better at posing pictures for me. hahaha.
She IS my FAVORITE model.

醜不拉嘰褲子變休閒短裙
其實這件褲子也沒有很醜啦～
只是它的剪裁讓我穿起來
短、粗、肥 被體現的完美無瑕呀…… ≡￣﹏￣≡
一氣之下，把它給剪了，洩憤！哼！(╰_╯)
哈哈開玩笑，我只是在想既然它穿起來不好看，但我又捨不得直接丟
所以就想把它改造成短裙。
正好春天也到了嘛～～～要換季了！
反正我根本不太喜歡穿褲子，我都是能穿裙子、洋裝，就不穿褲子。
冬天的時候也是這樣。
感覺穿褲子讓我的大屁股感覺太拘束… (￣y▽￣)

To be honest, this pair of pants is not that ugly… It just look ugly on me.
It actually from the kids section in a store. Heeh.
When you are only 5’1, it’s just impossible to buy pants that will fit from a regular store.
And same situation with maxi skirt or maxi dress. Usually when I hold a maxi dress at the should part, raise my hands over my head, the skirt will still be too long and dragging on the floor. Haha.
For some reasons this pair of pants made my legs look even shorter, so I decided to turn it into a skirt that I can wear with t-shirts for a casual look.
For those who can actually sew, please don’t scold me on how I made this transformation. I know it’s that the most ideal way…
以我現在的縫紉能力，我就算是處於初階、摸索、隨意的階段吧…
我大概量好膝蓋在哪的位置，留一點縫紉空間，就把褲管剪掉了。
再沿著褲腿內側剪開，把前後車起來，才能形成一件裙子。

I think my sewing level is still at a stage that I’m exploring methods and making random decision.
I’ve never taken any classes. Just watching a lot of Youtube videos on sewing and transforming old clothes.
After I marked where the knee-length should be, I just cut off the leg pannels, cut open the inseam, and fold the left and right side together.
我的計畫很簡單，把剪開的兩邊縫起來、把多餘的布裁掉、車布邊，
裙擺往內摺兩次、車起來就可以了。
對就這麼簡單的思路…
哎，哪天，我應該學學怎麼打版…
做飯那隨意的我，做衣服也是很隨意呀～ (*￣︶￣*)
反正做錯了再拆線重來就好了，
從錯誤中學習嘛！

My plan was really easy and, honestly, not really a plan.
I thought in my mind that I would just sew down the two sides, cut off the extra fabric, fold in the hem line twice, and sew along it.
Surprisingly it actually worked. The skirt turned out fine! At least it doesn’t make my legs look short and hip looks huge anymore.
I hope I get to learn how to make pattern in the future. It looks challenging tho… But it will surely improve my sewing ability.
I kept telling myself it was okay to mess up. I would just cut off the threads and redo it again if I make a mistake. It’s great to learn from mistakes!
So… ya this is the finish look. I’ll give myself a pat on the shoulder. 🙂
布寶很喜歡照相，跟她媽媽很像。
她那種“知道自己很可愛”的自信，大概也是家族遺傳吧？嘻嘻嘻 ＾＾
傳統華人父母好像都不太會稱讚自己的小孩吼，
但我真的好喜歡這個可愛的小寶貝呀！怎麼辦？ (^ 3 ^) ~☆

My daughter insisted to be in the photos as well. Hahahaha.
Ah~ I just can’t get enough her cuteness!
I feel really blessed to have a daughter with a bright mind and funny personality.
